3rd place in duets: Evelyn Doebling and Nora Cullinan. “Best Performance” award: Olivia Taylor Several people qualified for nationals for their superb solo/duet performances. Bravo everyone!

Popejoy Awards 2017

The cast of Mary Poppins was nominated for the “Best Production” award as well as individual nominees for the “Best Actress” award (Jessica Erkkila and Lauren Partin) and “Best Actor” award (Ben Hanlon). The Popejoy Awards took place on Sunday, May 14th, at Popejoy Hall.

State Thespian Society Competition:

For our first time at State Thespian Competition, the students did a bang up job in competing in categories ranging from solo performances to duets and in categories such as Stage Management, marketing, and costume construction. Six students have qualified for the National Competition.

NMAA One Act Competition:

Olions was awarded six awards at the NMAA One Act Competition. We had the best one act and the best backstage crew. In addition, Brad Parker was awarded the Ovation Award for Administrators and Volunteers, Chas Shay was awarded an Ovation Award for Inspirational Teachers, Dylan Mauldin was selected to be a part of the All-Festival Cast, and Sydney Shelton won third place for her poster design. Popejoy Awards

The Olions Spamalot 2017 ensemble and director David Daniel were given the “Best Direction” after performing a song at the Popejoy Hall. In addition, our own Devon McCleskey was awarded “best male actor” in the ceremony and was sent to New York City over the summer to compete in the National High School Musical Theatre Awards, also known as the Jimmy Awards.
